I am Sandra Underwood, a full-time, self-employed genealogist based in County Durham in the North East of England and have 20 years' family history research experience.
As a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), the Heir Hunters' Association and the International Institute of Genealogists (iiG), I adhere to their Codes of Practice.
I provide a full family history research service across the whole of the UK and specialise in Durham, Northumberland & Scotland.
As well as being the official genealogist of Fentimans Ltd (www.Fentimans.com), I have featured in the 'Family Tree' Magazine and was also invited to write a guest blog for the 'My Heritage' website.
In 2016 I was commissioned to assist with the research into Cheryl's family history for "Who Do You Think You Are?" Previous commissions have included the family history of world-renowned musician, Bryan Ferry; Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon and US Politician, Hillary Clinton (please see the 'News Update' page for further information).
I am a weekly visitor to my local archive at Durham Records Office and a regular visitor to the Northumberland Archives at Woodhorn, the Tyne & Wear Archives Service (TWAS) in Newcastle upon Tyne and the Local Studies Library at Newcastle City Library. I also pay fortnightly visits to my Local LDS Family History Centre in Sunderland as well as the Family History Centres located in Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne & Durham Clayport Libraries. Monthly visits are also made to the North Yorkshire, Teesside and Middlesbrough Archives.
